Hey Tad,

I see you've gotten angry enough to write a post about this ;)

I think you still misunderstand the point of my post.

1. I had a list of high quality niche blogs that I thought would be interesting to reach out to.

2. I didn't know if ALL of them were 100% relevant.

3. I didn't have the time to collect name, Twitter, and email myself.

4. I wanted to get this information SO I COULD DO FURTHER RESEARCH on the blog and blogger.

5. After I narrowed down the blog list, then I would spend time crafting emails that are tailored to the person and deliver some sort of value to them.

It's really that simple. The entire point of the post was to solve ONE aspect of this problem, namely getting that name, email, and Twitter in a fast, accurate, and inexpensive way.

I'm not sure how this is a bad thing, but in any event I'm glad it sparked some kind of a debate.

I recently discussed this on G+.

Far to many people focus on the SEO aspect, and utterly ignore the major benefits of;
* Building perceived Authority
* Gaining social traction
* Breaching new/Expanding audiences
* Garnering additional traffic
* Increasing your conversion potential/pool
These can apply to both the guest and the host.

Instead - all they see is "links".
Kind of shows what level/skill the general SEO crowd has :(
