The problem with normal pagination is usually getting the meta descriptions different on each page to avoid duplicate content problems (try writing something in PHP for wordpress to give youself a metadescription on each page and then work out how to make it different on each page of the loop …) although as you largely don’t bother with meta descriptions, maybe you don’t see it as an issue!
