I have just started to use Quora. I must say I like the quality. It is more of a challenge, I guess. But one has to be careful not to spend too much time on a question. Why not do a bit of both, depending on the time you have available?

If answers yahoo is do-follow it should be the best.

Do you see these sites as a link building opportunity also. Because most of the Q&A sites are nofollow.

I tried both. I simply dislike YA, though Askville is ok. My favorite user experience is definitely on Q, though that is ultimately irrelevant when considering SEO benefits (except for quality of life during the process… hehe).

BTW, I suspect that Quora will earn a special place in Google’s SERPs as the years go by – due to the higher quality of answers on Q and the fact that Y!A is owned by G’s competitor.

I recently started using Quora and the quality simply trumps Yahoo Answers entirely. The level of questions being asked are actually fun and worthwhile to answer.

I started using Quora about a week ago. Or I should say I registered. After reading this I went back and got more involved and so far I like it.
Maybe it is just the UX, but it seems to promote discussion a little more than YA. I dunno, maybe it is just me.
I have already connected with a couple of like-minded SEO people so that is pretty cool in my opinion.

I have dabbled in and had some good experiences with Yahoo Answers, too. But YA seems to be full of link builders with bogus questions: “what is best for SEOing my website?” which usually yields the answer: “Please to visit my site (insert URL) for best all helping with (insert issue here). It is number one website”.

To be fair though, that may be because I mostly look at SEO and internet marketing related questions.

I think this is great advice. I think I will get used to Yahoo answers first. I provide high quality cleaning services so I may need to switch over to Quora. Thanks again.

Great stuff. You have presented the topic in very simplified manner. I have no doubt that Yahoo Q&A is best suited for small business enterprises. On Yahoo Q&A, we can find and interact with individuals and businesses in any given sector or level of expertise. I agree with you that we must understand who our target audience is and act accordingly.
