I’ve spoken at SES a couple of times and although it is nice credibility builder, the speakers room offers good networking opportunities, and it gives you free admission, I have not gotten an iota of benefit from actually speaking. As you indicate, being crammed on a stage with four presenters does not allow much of an opportunity to make a connection with the audience.

You make some great points in this post. I too succumbed to some of the more ‘scamming’ SEO blogs in the beginning. Not because I wanted a get rich quick scheme, but because I wanted to genuinely learn how to build up your blog enough to make an income. It’s hard to tell the real ones from the fake ones unfortunately.
