Three and a half years ago I've published a very popular list post called the 15 best SEO Company Website Designs. I had to remove some of them over the years for a variety of reasons. It took me over 18 months to find even the 15 originally.
Luckily the days of bad SEO website designs are gone for good.
No more keyword stuffed, text only sites created by SEO practicioners who have never learned the design basics. These days SEO companies and other SEO service providers sport excellent web design that both appeals to users and converts them to buyers.
By now I have collected ten times as many that is 150+ outstanding websites from the SEO industry and beyond.
In order not to overwhelm you with a huge list of 150+ random designs I sorted them accordingly to similar attributes, Today I focus on Search Engine Optimization firms using a dark background.
How did I select the sites? You need to offer at least one or more organic SEO services to be added to my list but your agency can focus on marketing or we design by and large. So SEO company does not mean SEO only. Also you don't need to be a company as long as you offer some SEO services, you can be a freelancer as well. I focused on the actual web design. It doesn't mean that these are best for SEO purposes or rank best in Google.
Being on this list means that you have an great looking usable website.
Are you searching for a SEO company I approve of both web design and SEO wise? The first two: SEO.com and Datadial have been evaluated by myself. SEO.com is a partner of mine while Datadial has an entry in my SEO directory where I collect the SEO firms I trust most.

Nice list, and some great looking sites! I am looking forward to be on that list one day ;)!
Good to see that most of the big boys aren’t using dated keyword tricks. As a designer, I’m also glad to see a nice collection of varied sites (rather than stock photos of handshakes, smiling businessmen, and someone sitting in front of a laptop with both hands in the air).
Mike: Dark sites are difficult. Your site makes some of the typical web design mistakes with dark backgrounds. It results in poor readability. Also you lack high quality images. Don’t treat my comment as criticism, treat it as advice you’d otherwise have to pay for.
Ted: I’m glad as well, I started out as a web designer and while I failed at it I at least knew for a decade how a good site has to look like. Many SEO sites made me cry or puke.
These days many are excellent but there are still plenty out there that are full of stock photo cliches you mentioned.
Nice sites. Also check out http://www.freshegg.com
Nice list, dark brackgrounds can look really slick if they are complemented with high quality graphics that provide a good contrast and visual appeal. I agree one of the biggest negatives is using those well-over-used stock photos – looks like a company’s not made an effort to be original.
Nice good looking sites. I’m waiting for that day when my site will be listed.
Nice sites although I must say I’ve never been a fan of dark backgrounds personally. They’re great for the quick views but I tend to find the longer you spend on a dark site the harder it is on your eyes…just my 2 bits though
It always has a very good impression if a good site is nicely designed also. However, I try to avoid dark colors. Not too much of a Dark Guy.
Could I put forward http://www.ne-web.com/
They have a nice, clean dark website that has a nice fixed rainbow effect at the top of the page (which works well when you scroll down the page).
Hey Richard,
not bad indeed :-) There are some minor issues with the fonts though on my system. I may add in the future.
Hey Tadeusz,
If you could elaborate on the minor font issues, that would be great.
Feel free to email me.
Cheers.
