You might have already noticed: There is new sidebar widget at SEO 2.0. It’s my CLIQ. It sounds like clique and it appears to be another BlogRush rip off but it isn’t. I never bought into Blogrush really but I lthe idea of having a tool that allows you to share relevant blog postings with other like minded bloggers got stuck deep in my heart.
Then I noticed the CLIQ widget and checked the site out, installed it and.. well… I need you to join me. But wait it’s not the “I refer you, thus I get credits for you and you are just my subaffiliate“.
Let me present to you the 7 reasons why CLIQ is the better Blogrush:
- CLIQ looks better, the design is more professional
- It’s no scam, scheme, no pyramid or ponzi involved, no strings attached
- It’s not automatic, you decide who is displayed on your site and even which post if you want to
- CLIQ is a recommendation based system, you can trust those links because the blogs are hand picked
- It’s not a hype, it’s not a run, it’s not a rush and I’m one of the early adopters
- It even works with one blog, like now you can display “related posts” with it from my own blog
- CLIQ is a social medium, it allows you to connect with your online friends and fellow bloggers
Some of you already have been invited by “the leader of the SEO 2.0 CLIQ”. It’s more for testing purposes just called SEO 2.0. Of course we can change that if you like and decide what to call it or what the focus should be.
Did I tell you that I am a black clad anarchist deep in my heart?
So I do not have to be the leader at all. I just really appreciate the idea of CLIQ and would like to “exchange links” ;-) with you.
So if you have a blog and would like to participate in my elite clique, sorry CLIQ, tell me and I will reject, sorry add you if the maximo leader approves you!
Wait! Are there any drawbacks? Well, of course there are:
- You have to manually motivate others to join the CLIQ
- I needed at least 3 attempts to register, don’t know what went wrong
- The invitation emails send from the system can not be customized, that’s probably why they don’t work
- There must be a leader it seems, so people think why should I become a subordinate of a ridiculous Mexican with a huge sombrero?
So come on, let’s socialize, I need more than StumbleUpon and Sphinn, I feel so lonely out there in cyberspace! Join my clique…
Btw. I will remove the affiliate ads for the SEO services and products as they do not sell so then the widget will be more prominent here.

Thanks a bunch for trying out CLIQ! Really glad to hear you like our angle.
We definitely think there’s a lot of potential in allowing content producers (bloggers) to have more control over the connections they form, and the content they promote.
Thanks also for your feedback above - good points all, and am sorry to hear you ran intro trouble registering…we’ll look into that.
believe it or not, I actually was going to ask to join your clique Sorry, CLIQ, just a couple of days ago when I logged in their system… don’t know why I didn’t! may be I was afraid of leadership roles being messed up… I did run into this with Ken Xu’s CLIQ… the second I joined, he lost his leadership status on his own blog! so after a few people joined his CLIQ, everyone was on there, but him! and that was funny for me, I bet not for him! other than that, I really like the idea of being able to pick the blogs you like (or drop if you change your mind ;))
thanks for the mention!
Tad, I’ve just joined your Cliq, as an experiment.
I don’t normally do the widget thing, and I steered well clear of the BlogRush thing all together.
But what interests me about Cliq is that it’s small, select groups, that I imagine the Leader has control over.
So spammy, or low quality members could be removed.
I certainly don’t want inflammatory or off-topic content appearing on my sidebar, that’s for sure.
What I can’t figure out is, where is Cliq pulling my content from?
I can’t see my latest articles, other than the ones I’ve added to del.icio.us, which is odd…
Thank you Kevin for your great service, I also appreciate your coming over to comment here. Nonetheless the problems persist. I can’t log in anymore. tried the “forget password” method to no avail…
pearl, you still can join, but I’m afraid you mix me up with someone else I just created my cliq.
Wayne, that’s great! Sadly I can’t log in into the cliqin interface right now… But I will stick with the service, I guess they’re experiencing the Web 2.0 beta syndrome… so be a little patient.
I think Cliq is parsing your website links but I’m not sure. I can’t see your del.icio.us bookmarks anywhere on your blog though…
I love this! Thank you Tad.
I joined your cliq and within seconds of joining, it had updated the widget on your site, and included my latest post (two days old) - so I’m extremely interested in what happened with Wayne and his posts - also the outcome of your password problem. I figure they are still figuring out the kinks.
Cliq blows blogrush away as far as I am concerned - I did not like how I had no choice in where the posts came from; too random for me, so I really have my fingers crossed for cliq. (And SEO 2.0) :)
Hello Lidja, great blog you have, wonder why I haven’t noticed it before. It’s a shame. Just Stumble your last article, love this way of supporting children.
Thank you Tad, compliments are nice sometimes, and it means a lot as I love your writing style.
Here’s a funny story: My little family and I moved to Silicon Valley from Australia (Melbourne) nearly two years ago.
Exciting, the idea was, as I thought finally I will be around people that love the Internet as much as I do, and I won’t feel like a nut everytime I run around shouting “Hey, have you seen WordPress (or StumbleUpon, or Cliq or [add any new cool thing]).”
Didn’t happen.
What did happen is people started coming to me for help with their online issues - stuff I really thought was common knowledge here…strange huh?
So I suspect that is why you haven’t come across me before; I don’t have enough time to play with things I love! I think I really need to start charging for this… (Well other than the ninja mum stuff.) ;) Thanks also for the blogcatalog invite (I’ve been neglecting that as well :( ).
OK, now I know why.
Btw.: Just send a message to CLIQ help about the log in, I thought they need some time to fix it, but it does not work yet…
Hey Tad,
Is CLIQ working yet? I would love to join your CLIQ.
-Fred
Yeah, it works again. Probably I just recreacted the password too often and got confused, not sure what went wrong. Join me, I think you have “to apply” now through the system and then I approve.
I had come to the same conclusion running aff ads on a site of mine (not the hotel; that’s not mine.). Services sell better, imho.
Unfortunately CLIQ is shutting down.
Oh no! Thanks for the notice Mg. This really is a sad development.
