I understand your point, but videos add a lot of value and seem to keep readers on your page longer. Totally agree on not posting youtube videos. I would also like to add that you should not hotlink images from flickr or any other website for that matter. If the image is removed from flickr or the other website;s server, you get an empty image which looks ugly. And the 'popular posts' plugin is a must have.
